BCLA and LabLaunch, alongside with LABioMed institute, hosted the second Biotech Entrepreneurship Coalition seminar on November 15th as part of the Innovate LA week. On the topic of "Postdoc to CEO: Lessons from Paddling in the Shark Tank" Dr. Andrew Gray, CEO and Co-founder of Karma Biotechnologies, gave a very insightful view of his journey. Dr. Gray talked about his experience about his transition from postdoc to CEO; shared tips and valuable info on how to build a team, invest your time, prepare your pitch and where to find valuable resources such as mentoring and financial advice, in order to achieve a breakthrough as a new biotech start-up company. "Are you really a start-up person?" Dr. Gray asked his audience to consider this question, even though entrepreneurship is a challenging experience, someone will have to do it and if you have the passion and skill sets, might as well be you!
